"Cover History"

1. Early Magazine Covers: In the mid 1700's they would put a title and table of contents as the magazine cover. They would also make them like book covers, only putting a title and the publication date. They didn't have cover lines until later in the 180o's.

2. The Poster Cover: in the 1890's and 1960's there was one cover that took over the other ones. more and more good illustrations came out in the 1900's. Most of the covers look as if you could frame them and hang them onto the wall.

3. Pictures Married to Type: In the 1940's and 1950's they began using cover lines.Starting to add color to the cover. And they add a lot of creativity in the cover lines especially in the fashion magazines.

4. In the Forest of Words: In the 21 century they started having more and more cover lines and it is as important as the cover picture. Some even contain cover lines bigger then the title itself!Poster covers mainly come put in music magazines, art and photo magazines,travel, and specials.
