A. What is the most powerful image from the slideshows? Why?
I think the most powerful picture is the picture of Ian and his room mate facing eachother and in front of them is the flag. Even though you cannot see the picture I think its powerful. That we can see past them and still see the flag there. Shows that they are there for thier country.

B. What sequence of photographs is the most powerful? Why?
I think all the powerful pictures are in the country. They show about the feelings and the there everyday lives they go through. Each either showing that thier sad, angry,determined,happy, and proud. This shows much power to each picture, they all have thier own power.

c. How do the images work together to tell a story?
They tell how an soldier feels and does and goes through. Things they do before the battles and things they get ready to do for the battle. They are scramble into different emotions but I think thats how war is. You can feel one thing at one point and a few seconds later you can feel something else. War can be bipolar!!!!

A. For the photos in which Ian is the main subject of the photos, in what tense are the verbs usually written?
I think they are present tense cause they use like"Ian talks with roomate..." They sent everything as if he was doing things right this second. And this photos take place 2008.


B. How do the captions enhance the photographs?
They make it seem as if it is happening right now. Cause if it was written past wise it wouldnt have been as good to enhance the photographs.

Under the "In Country" groups of photos, look at the picture on the top right corner in which Ian is holding the rossary.

The caption reads: Ian holds his rossary as he prays that he can get the strengh he needs.

Under the "Life in Iraq" look at the first picture in which Ian is driving a Humvee.

The caption reads: Ian drives throught the streets in Iraq in a Humvee.

Under the "Basic Training" groups of photos, look at the picture in the fourth row and move down four photos where Ian is camaplogde into the bush.

The caption reads:Ian hides in bush as he targets his target point.

A. How do these other features enhance the photographs?
You can hear the voices of the people and you can hear what they are thinking and feeling. That there is not different opionions because the person that is speaking is telling the real story.

Because of the effects and the people talking and talking about the pictures instead of people trying to figure out what the photo means. They just say it sraight up from thier feelings.

They show feelings and show beauty. And there is always more than one answer to what you think it is. photos can be so amazing!!!
